Pastor Biography

Some may know him as “Walter, “ others as an astute businessman, a patient, gentle spirit and still others as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and loyal friend. No matter your point of reference, Overseer Walter L Moore is a man of integrity, a humble servant who has a heart for God and his people. His favorite phrase is “Everybody is an ex- something,” but God saves us from our sins and puts us on the path of righteousness.

He firmly believes that there no sin that God can’t deliver, no sickness that he can’t heal, no heartache that he can’t mend. His calling to the ministry did not come without a cost. There have been some valley experiences; however, it did not stop him. His Apostolic upbringing gave him the strength to persevere and helped to cultivate his unique ability to minister to the whole man, while reaching a diverse people of all backgrounds, cultures, and denominations.

Overseer Moore was born in Athens, Alabama in 1957 where he attended local area public schools. Relocating with his family to Akron, Ohio he completed his secondary education and went on to pursue an education at the University of Akron, and later, earning a B.S. degree in Political Science/Public Administration from San Francisco State University. He began his corporate career at Pacific Gas and Electric Company, where he received accolades for accomplishments running a number to teams and projects.   He retired after 36 years of service in 2014.

Pastor Moore has been active in the community, His affiliations consist of serving on the Board of Directors for the Shiloh Group Home (a nonprofit) 2003-2005, Board Member of the Ministers for the Greater Richmond Interfaith Project (GRIP), and Member of the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office Community Chaplains.

Ordained an Elder in the Apostolic Overcoming Holy Church of God in June 2002; Pastor Moore completed his written and oral certification at Apostolic Overcoming Holy Church of God headquartered in Mobile, Alabama. Pastor Moore Interned under the leadership of the late Presiding Bishop of the Apostolic Overcoming Holy Church of God, Bishop G. W. Ayers, at the Faith Tabernacle AOH Church of God in Richmond, California for four years.

He was appointed as the Pastor of the Mt. Moriah AOH Church of God, in Sacramento, California in June of 2006. Under his leadership the Mt. Moriah Church took on a major construction and remodeling projects which were completed in 2009. The church is experiencing a great spiritual renewal as we move forward in ministry. In June of 2014 The Executive Board of the Apostolic Overcoming Holy Church of God appointed Pastor Moore as Overseer of the States of California and Washington.

Pastor Moore is a husband, father of five beautiful children and a grandfather. His calling to the ministry has been a life changing event. He has seen God move in the lives of his people, he has witnessed lives changed, and he has seen God reclaim, restore, and heal in miraculous ways. He is looking to the future with great expectations of the promises of God being fulfilled in his life and the lives of those he will touch.
